Fishing

If you are heading to the Breamlea Caravan Park, pack your fishing rods!

Breamlea is an angler’s paradise, with abundant opportunities along the shoreline and waterways. Enjoy bay fishing at Bancoora or Fishos, or, book a chartered fishing tour with a local business to reel in your next big ocean catch. This angler’s nirvana serves up prime snapper, whiting, flathead, and even shark fishing for the brave. For the ultimate serene start, cast your line as the first rays of sunrise paint the ocean in warm hues.

Bass Strait provides an infinite source of entertainment for the angler. Weather conditions permitting, fish are taken year round along the coast. However, as the weather improves in late spring, the fishing activity also increases with the arrival of huge numbers of Snapper on their annual migration into Port Phillip Bay to spawn. Good numbers of snapper, up to 10Kg, are taken from around AFL Grand Final Day to mid December.

Flathead, whiting, snapper, salmon and gummy sharks may be caught from the beach at Fishos or from your boat within sight of the beach.

Venturing further afield offshore at Black Rock, Torquay and Jan Juc, the variety of species caught include, gummy shark, snapper, whiting, salmon, couta, garfish, squid (calamari and aero), kingfish, trevally, sweep, flathead and for the seriously adventurous, deep off shore fishing can produce good catches of a variety of species of sharks.

Torquay Anglers Club, large group of kids getting a lesson

Torquay Anglers Club

The Torquay Angling Club was founded in 1961 to give local anglers the opportunity to fish the waters of Bass Strait. The natural shelter provided by Point Danger from the prevailing south-west ocean swell provides one of the few safe launch and retrieve areas on the west coast.

The club runs a number of Torquay fishing events during the year, including the club championship which concludes at the end of August followed by the Clubs Award presentation night in October.

The clubrooms are usually open most mornings and afternoons and members and members guests are welcome to drop in for a tea, coffee or a cold drink and share their fishing stories.

What a lovely quiet caravan park so perfectly positioned. The beach on your doorstep and a fabulous wetland at the gate. Away from the rat race but an easy short drive to all you could need.

A great little caravan park in the quiet hamlet of Breamlea. Generous sites with access to power and water (although you may need 20m+ of hose and power lead). Amenities are well looked after and cleaned twice each day. Highly recommend sites 200 & 201 for a pair of cans as they have a sheltered picnic table between them. Camp kitchen does not have cooking facilities but there is a BBQ nearby.
